Dorothy Self Sullivan

Dorothy Ann Self Sullivan, age 79 of Bethune, S.C. passed away, Friday morning, January 3, 2025, at her home. Born in Chesterfield, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Dalton Washington Self and Sadie Warr Self. Mrs. Sullivan was baptized at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and retired from Cal-Maine Foods. She enjoyed spending time with her family and looking after her animals.

She is survived by 2 sons, Redmond John Sullivan and his wife, Ruby of Rayford, N.C., David Carroll Sullivan and his wife, Sue of Kershaw, S.C.; 2 daughters, Carolyn Jane Gainey of Bethune, S.C. and Sara Jane Wells (Kevin Wilburn) of Bethune, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Anna Kathryn Taylor of Kershaw, S.C., Thomas Dalton Self and his wife, Theresa of Morven, N.C., Joyce Diane Self of Ridgeway, S.C., Jimmy Washington Self of Bethune, S.C., Pearly Irene Joyner of Bishopville, S.C. Dora Gillespie of Bethune, S.C. and Joan Gabel (Al Johnson) of Cassatt, S.C. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ace Chapman Sullivan; a grandson, Dustin Redick and siblings, Sara Dollarhyde, Lenny J. Self, Loretta Deese, Flora Mae Williams and George Self. 

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Rev. Terry Coder will officiate.

The family will greet friends, immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at home.
