Dorothy Sowell Johnson

Funeral services for Dorothy Sowell Johnson, 85, were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 5, 2008, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Chadwick Ivester and Brian Cobb and Edgar Horton officiated.
Mrs. Johnson, widow of Robert Edgar Johnson, Jr. died Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Kershaw County Medical Center, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Austin and Nancy Suzanna Gay Sowell. She retired from Kershaw County Court House where she served as bailiff for many years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church . She also attended Sand Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed the Medium Adult Sunday School Class at the church.
 
Surviving are 2 daughters; Nancy Elizabeth Libby Horton and Pauline Williams and her husband Jimmy all of Kershaw, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a sister; Vera Riddle of Kershaw. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Shelbia J. Lockamy, a sister; Pauline Threatt, a brother; Randolph Sowell and 2 sons-in-law; Douglas Horton and Steve Lockamy. 
The family received friends following the committal service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her daughter; 6990 Sandhill Road, Kershaw.
