Doris Young Hunter, age 89, of Kershaw, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, at her home. Doris was born on September 5, 1931, to Arthur Clarence and Ola Connell Young in Kershaw, S.C. Doris’ life included 44 years as a lab technician with Springs Industries, being a wonderful mother to her girls and a loving wife of 70 years to her husband. Her life also included being involved with the things she loved. She loved bowling and her team was usually near or at the top of her league. She loved camping and spending time at their home at Springmaid Beach. She loved square dancing and was a member of The Camden Hi-Steppers Square Dance Club until her health failed. Doris loved traveling and attended the National Square Dance Convention at major cities across the country for twelve years running. She loved traveling with Christian Tours and made many trips with them. Most importantly, she loved the Lord and was faithful to Kershaw Second Baptist Church for many years.
She was a fighter and spent the last 15 years fighting for life against a disease that slowly takes your mind away and leaves your loved ones helplessly saddened as they can only watch. Please pray that the cause and cure will be found soon. Special thanks to Mary, Linda, and Vera who lovingly cared for her the last few years making her life, more comfortable.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Wade T. Hunter; two daughters, Cynthia Lynn (Charles) Clyburn, Kimberly Kay (Shawn) Carter. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Charles (Erica) Clyburn, Jr., Ashleigh (Ty) Cordray, Benjamin (Kelsey) Carter, and her four great grandchildren, Nathan, Knox, Julianna and William Clyburn.
