Donna G. Hartley

A service to celebrate the life of Donna G. Hartley, 46 of Kershaw, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday December 30, 2014, from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson Street, Kershaw, SC. Rev. Bobby Joyner will officiate. The casket will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service for viewing. Mrs. Hartley will be cremated following the service at her request. Donna died Saturday, December 27, 2014, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. Born in Lancaster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Galloway and Dianne Ghent Galloway Dickson. She was the Executive Director of Kershaw Area Community Resource Exchange since 2011 and a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. She loved people and had a passion for helping people. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Kershaw Chamber of Commerce. Her passion and love for people and the community helped her to take K.A.R.E. to new heights and expanded the outreach of K.A.R.E. Her vision for K.A.R.E. opened many doors and allowed thousands of individuals not to go hungry or without heat, power, water or a roof over their head. She had a vision to expand K.A.R.E. to a larger facility, which she accomplished in 2014. Under Donna’s direction, K.A.R.E. expanded to help more individuals by extended services into areas of Kershaw and Chesterfield counties. Donna’s passion for people was far beyond K.A.R.E. She would do whatever she could to help other agencies or areas to help those in need. She impacted thousands of lives by her generosity and love. Her dream was to have a soup kitchen at K.A.R.E. so that there would be no one that did not have a hot meal to eat. She lived by the words, The more you enjoy your own life, the more joy you have to give to all of life. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel prior to the service and other times at the home, 101 Knollwood Drive, Kershaw. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, SC 29067 for assistance with funeral expenses. Surviving are her husband, Asa J. McKittrick of the home; a son, Hunter Garrett Hartley; a daughter, Karah Dianne Hartley; two step-daughters, Laura Grace McKittrick and Molly Danielle McKittrick all of Kershaw. Also surviving are her special cousin, Dana Stogner.
