Donald Wayne “Hoggy” Stogner, 72 of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Saturday, March 6, 2021, in Providence Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in the Timrod community of Kershaw County, he was the son of the late John Marion Stogner and Mary Evelyn Mangum Stogner. Mr. Stogner was a superintendent for Trico Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in Pensacola, FL. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. “Hoggy” was an avid golfer and served as golf pro for the Kershaw Golf Course during the 1990’s. He loved to tell stories and loved all sports. He was a member of the Kershaw High School Football Team winning the 1966 State Championship. Most importantly, he cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Marzetta S. Stogner of Kershaw, S.C.; 2 daughters, Ashley (Roger) Marvil of Duarte, CA and Lorie (Steve) Sellers of Lancaster, S.C.; 7 grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Devan, Jensen, Joshua, Noah and Brianna; 3 sisters, Bonnie Mimms of Greenville, S.C., Linda Roberts of Lexington, S.C. and Wanda Rawl of Lexington, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Berger and 2 sisters, Johnsie Davis and Mary Faulkenberry.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening, March 9, 2021, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon, March 10, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson St., Kershaw, S.C. 29067. The Rev. Bobby Massey and Pastor Gerald Montgomery will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Stogner may be made to First Baptist Church, Post Office Box, 67, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
