A funeral service for Dessie Gardner Faulkenberry, 99 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014, from the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Owens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Mrs. Faulkenberry, widow of Andrew Rogers Faulkenberry died Monday, November 10, 2014, at Springdale Healthcare Center, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Wylie Van Buren and Hennie L. Adams Gardner. Mrs. Faulkenberry retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Westville. She also was a former Sunday School teacher at the church and loved people. Surviving are her son, John C. Faulkenberry of Smyrna, TN; two daughters, Bonnie F. Hilton, Jacqueline F. Baker and her husband Jimmy all of Kershaw; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Oscar Gardner, Brodus Gardner, James Gardner, Gilbert Gardner and T.J. Gardner; two sisters, Eva Mae Gardner Vincent and Katie Gardner; a great grandson, Allen Hilton and a daughter-in-law, Clara Faulkenberry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
