Mrs. Dean Hyatt “Deannie” Reeves, 91, of Kershaw, S.C. and loving wife of the late C. Joe Reeves, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at MUSC Health, Lancaster, Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C.
Deannie was born May 25, 1933, in Augusta, Georgia and was a 1951 graduate of Lancaster High School. She was a retiree of The Kendall Company in Bethune, S.C. Deannie was very family oriented, loving each family member wholeheartedly. She enjoyed preparing family holiday dinners, mailing cards to her friends for special occasions, never forgetting a birthday. She especially enjoyed being a dedicated “Mam-Maw” to her three grandchildren and three great-grandsons. She found special joy in attending their sports and band events. Deannie set an example of her Christian faith with a loving spirit, strong work ethic, and being supportive of her family.
Deannie loved her church, Second Baptist of Kershaw, attended the Joy Group activities, and made lifelong friends from her many years there. She was a member of the Mitch Lucas Sunday School Class.
Deannie was predeceased by her husband of 67, years, C. Joe Reeves, her parents, the late Ben Hyatt and the late Daisy Hyatt Yates, son-in-law, “Buzz” Reeves, and brother-in-law, Reverend Don Smith of Suwanee, Georgia. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Deannie will be very missed by all who were blessed to have known her affectionate nature and love of the Lord.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lynn R. Reeves of Heath Springs, S.C. and Shirley R. Williams (D. Victor Williams, Jr.) of Stuart, VA: granddaughter, Courtney Dean Williams of Smith Mountain Lake, VA., grandsons, Carlton Reeves, (Jennifer) of Heath Springs, S.C., Craig Reeves (Jill) of Hanahan, S.C., three great-grandsons, Braxton, Blaine, and Brayden of Heath Springs, S.C.
Deannie is also survived by her sister, Shirley H. Smith of Suwannee, Georgia, and special niece and nephew, Allison and Scott Smith. Included are special nephews, Pat Scott (Nancy) of Kershaw, S.C., Tim Scott (Jill) of Lancaster, S.C., Chuck Mobley (Shelly) of Savannah, Georgia, and several great nieces and nephews. Deannies' life included a host of dear and wonderful friends from her many years at Kendall, her church family, and very special neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in the church fellowship hall from 2:00-3:00 P.M.
The celebration of life service for Deannie will be held at 3:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Dr. T. Jason Moss. The committal and burial will follow at the Kershaw City Cemetery.
