David Phillip Copeland

Graveside services for David Phillip “Sam” Copeland, 65 of Kershaw will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethune. Mr. Troy Hough will officiate. Mr. Copeland died Monday, November 5 at Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late William “Bill” and Matilda Williams Copeland. He retired from Combraco Industries, Pageland, was a graduate of Bethune High School and served in the US Navy. He also attended Clemson University, enjoyed the outdoors, reading, woodworking and hunting for arrowheads. Mr. Copeland was especially fond of his canine companion “Charlie”. Surviving are 2 daughters; Mandy Williams and her husband Champ of Kershaw, Leslie Parker and her husband Dixon of Lancaster, 4 grandchildren; Logan Sowell, Mason Sowell, Landry Williams and Brandt Parker, a sister; Marcia Mincey of Lexington, 2 brothers; Billy Copeland of Conway and Donald Copeland of Bethune. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Gary and Hayes Copeland and a sister; Jeanette Brannon. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the church.
