Darrall Ray Faulkenberry, age 85, passed away on May 2,2024, at his home place in Kershaw, South Carolina. Darrall was born May 11,1938, the son of the late Benny Baxter Faulkenberry and Lillie Mae Robinson Faulkenberry. He was a graduate of Kershaw High School and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 and was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. While serving his country he met Sheryl Robertson, his wife for eternity, in northwest Oklahoma.
After his discharge from the Army, Darrall and Sheryl returned to Kershaw to live and start their family. Darrall worked as an Industrial Mechanic at Dupont’s May Plant in Lugoff, South Carolina until his “first” retirement in 1996. He continued to work after retirement for the Town of Kershaw at the Kershaw Golf Course and retired permanently in 2020 from the Gregory Family YMCA in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Darrall was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church and served the Lord with his bass voice in the choir and as a Deacon. He also served his community as a member of Abney Masonic Lodge 211. Darrall loved watching his Clemson Tigers, and most any sporting event and Gunsmoke. He also never knew a stranger and could always find a conversation with anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Franklin Faulkenberry.
Darrall is survived by his wife of 60 years Sheryl; 2 sons, William James (Donna) and Jonathan Blake (Stephanie), and 3 grandchildren; Jennifer Stogner, Matthew Stogner, and Madison Faulkenberry. He loved his 15 nieces and nephews that affectionately called him UD for Uncle Darrall.
Darrall’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 5, at Kershaw Second Baptist Church with a reception to follow. Memorials in Darrall’s name can made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, South Carolina 29067.
