Danny Ross Johnson, 67, of Jefferson, S.C., passed away, Saturday morning, February 5, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Kershaw, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was the son of the late Elmer T. “Tommy” Johnson and Margie Horton Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from Springs Industries. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and dirt track racing. He also served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Army group referred to as “Hell on Wheels”. General Patton dubbed the division this name promising it would terrify enemies. Its troops adopted the nickname as their motto. Danny’s father also served in the group as well under General Patton.

He is survived by his daughter, April (Stephen Gibson) Blackmon; 5 grandchildren, Cheyenne (Jordan Anderson) Blackmon, Cassidy Blackmon, Natalie Deese, Colbie Sowell and Charley Catoe; a great grandson, Sailor Anderson; his sister, Diane (Jackie) Small and their son, Randy Small. He is also survived by special friend, Billie Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Deese.

The family will greet friends, Monday evening, February 7, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C. and other times at the home of his sister, Diane, Jefferson, S.C.

Funeral services will be conducted, Tuesday morning, February 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson, S.C. Rev. Terry Coder will officiate.

Mr. Johnson will be cremated following the service and a private burial will be held in the church cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067, to assist the family with expenses.
