Clyde Edwin Powers

Funeral services for Clyde Edwin Powers, 84, of Heath Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Heath Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery with full Military Honors. Rev. Paul Smith will officiate. Mr. Powers died Saturday, July 28, at Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Heath Springs, he was the son of the late Clyde Vernon and Mary Emily Horton Powers. Mr. Powers was a career United States Marine serving for 24 years. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and also enjoyed vegetable gardening. Mr. Powers was married to the late Zella Bunch Powers. Surviving are 2 sons, Eddie Powers and his wife Nina of Birmingham, AL, Larry Powers and his wife Lynda of Lexington, SC; 6 grandchildren, Sophia Powers, Mary Emma Powers, Edwin Martin Powers, Mercy Powers, Caroline Powers and Emily Powers; 3 brothers, James Quay Powers of Kershaw, John L. Powers of Marietta, GA, Earl Powers of Heath Springs and a sister, Dorothy Ann Taylor of St. Augustine FL. The family will receive friends, Monday, July 30, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw.
