Clara June Catoe Gainey

Clara June Gainey, 71, of Okeechobee, Florida and formerly of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 7, 2008, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. James Way will officiate.

Mrs. Gainey died Sunday, November 2, 2008, in Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee. She was born May 22, 1937 in Kershaw to James and Maude Catoe. She moved to Okeechobee in 1971. She was a school teacher's aide for 20 years in the Okeechobee County School System. Mrs. Gainey was a member of of First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. She loved her grandchildren, cooking for her family and friends. She was active in Curves and water aerobics at KOA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Gainey, October 12, 2007. Surviving are three sons; Keith N. Gainey (Marsha) of Wellington, Florida, Mitchell Gainey and Chris Gainey both of Okeechobee, Florida; two daughters; Lesa Trenter of Ocala, Florida, Lori Erwin (Michael) of Lake Worth, Florida, six grandchildren; Jason Trenter, Shannen Trenter, Chase Gainey, Anna Erwin, Dane Shelley and Grace Gainey; great granddaughter; Karlie Rose Bright, two brothers; James W. Catoe, Jr. of Rock Hill and Ralph Douglas Catoe of Kershaw, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, Friday, November 7, 2008, from 1 to 2 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
