Funeral services for Christopher Edward “Chris” Geiger, 40, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2011, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Rev. James Aldridge will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Chris will be cremated following the service. Chris died Sunday, October 2, in PalmettoHealth-Richland, Columbia. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Judy Catoe Geiger and the late Jackie Edward Geiger. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved his truck and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid Dale Earnhart and Dale Earnhart, Jr. fan and loved the Carolina Gamecocks. Chris always wanted to help others and at his mother’s request, his organs have been donated to help others. He attended New Testament Baptist Church. Surviving are his mother; Judy C. Geiger of the home, special friend; Tanya Knight, special cousin; Eric Yarbarough, special sister; Heather Fulton (Chris), maternal grandfather; Kever Catoe, aunts and uncles; Carol, Patrick, Brenda, Ray, Michelle, Howard, Vickie, Tony, Frances,Carol, David, Betty Jean and a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Rena Faile Catoe and paternal grandparents; Jake and Grace Geiger. Due to Chris’s many health problems and medical expenses, memorial donations may be made to Baker Funeral Home to help with final expenses. The family is thankful for the love and support they have received.
