Charles "Sonny" Neal

Charles Wilson “Sonny” Neal, 82, of Lancaster, S.C., passed away peacefully, Friday, October 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Kershaw, S.C., the son of the late Woodrow and Marguerite Hunter Neal.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Holley Connell Neal; his sister, Reba Neal Wilkins of Greenville, S.C.; his children, Jeff (Helen) Connell of Kershaw, S.C., Jan (Ralph) Jordan of Camden, S.C, Paige (Scott) Whitley of Lancaster, S.C., Tim (Angela) Neal of Heath Springs, S.C. and Kim (Mike) Rollings, of Lancaster, S.C.; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harry L. "Chucky" Connell, Jr.

Mr. Neal graduated from Kershaw High School. He attended White Springs Baptist Church. He was a devoted employee and worked for Joslyn Clark Controls for over 30 years. Mr. Neal enjoyed sitting in his recliner playing Yahtzee and watching Judge Judy. He loved spending time with his family as they were his greatest treasures.

A service to honor and remember his life will be held from the graveside, Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Brad Threatt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Neal family plot.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Neal may be, made to White Springs Baptist Church, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, S.C. 29720 or the charity of one’s choice.
