Carolyn Williams Gay

Carolyn Williams Gay, 81, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her home. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Horace B. Williams and Ruby Diana Gay Williams. She retired from Springs Industries, Grace Bleachery and was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church, Westville, S.C.

Mrs. Gay loved to garden, sew and ride horses. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch with her sisters reminiscing, riding her golf cart and tending her roses. She was a Sunday School Teacher at the church for many years and loved all kinds of music.

Surviving are her 3 children, Peggy (Jody) McClintock, Steven (Carla) Owens and Regina (Philip) Roberts;  grandchildren, Dr. Neena Agrawal, Amanda (Michael) Agrawal, Millie Agrawal, John (Alisha) Owens and Anna Vaughan; 1 great grandson, Archer McKeighen; 2 sisters, Linda W. Coates and Barbara W. Reeves and a sister-in-law, Rita Williams. She also loved her fur babies, Sophie, Betsy and Gracie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Esmond Gay and her brother, Steve Williams.

The family would like to thank MUSC Health Hospice and Roger Coates for the love and care shown to Mrs. Gay during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gay will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022, in the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church, Westville, S.C. Rev. Craigan Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will greet friends immediately following the committal service in the church Family Life Center and other times at Mrs. Gay’s home. Pallbearers will be Millie Agrawal, Roger Coates, Barry Estridge, John Owens, Keith Reeves and Stevie Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Coates, Jeff Coates and Jody McClintock.
