On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Carol Ann Peters McNaughton, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones at the Agape Hospice House.
Carol was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 19, 1936, to the late Erwin and Ruth Peters. She was the wife of Alvin L. McNaughton for 61 years and together they raised three children: Barry Dean, Terry Lynn, and Donna Marie. Carol was passionate about studying genealogy and was an avid writer. Along with her role as the assistant director of the Camden Archives and Museum, Carol wrote for the current events column for the Kershaw News Era and authored three books about families and significant events in the towns of Kershaw, Bethune, and the city of Lancaster. She was also a stewardess for Delta Airlines for several years. In addition to their numerous business ventures, Carol and Alvin traveled extensively in their motor home through the continental US, all eight Canadian provinces, Yukon, and Alaska.
Carol welcomed everyone with a radiant smile and joyful laugh. Anyone that met Carol, remembers her for being extremely kind, warm, and gentle but most of all very sweet. Her ability to make others feel loved was one of her greatest qualities.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin L. McNaughton, her children, Donna McNaughton Neal (Darrell), Sandra Kay McNaughton Clear (Randy), Alvin Ray McNaughton (Alisha), her 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her son, Barry Dean McNaughton, her daughter, Terry Lynn McManus and her grandson, Jason Michael McNaughton.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2022, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Committal services will be held, Monday, September 26, 2022, at 12:00 noon in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, S.C.
