Carliene Sowell Hancock Dorman, 90 of Kershaw, died at her home, Friday, July 29, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born March 21, 1921; the first born of the late Edgar Luther and Ila Gay Sowell. Mrs. Dorman was a 1938 graduate of Kershaw High School and retired from RCA, West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, family games and traveling. Survivors include her devoted husband of twenty-six years; Roy Dorman, four grandchildren; Alan Hancock of Plano, Texas; Todd (Glenna) Hancock of Grand Prairie, Texas, Ashley (Tara) Hancock of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Courtney Hancock of Marietta, Georgia; six great grandchildren; Jennifer, Brody, Ledger, Tommy, Morgan and Perrin; a brother; Clifford Sowell of Heath Springs, two sisters; Inez S. Hatchell of Florence, and Grace S. Roberts of Kershaw and a number of nieces and nephews; four step-children; Ted (Marie) Dorman and Mickey (Linda) Dorman of Tampa, Florida, Kenny Dorman of West Palm Beach, Florida and Frances (Mendel) Williams of Kershaw; 13 step- grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild. Mrs. Dorman was preceded in death by her first husband, Konell B. Hancock, and their only child, Glenn Marion Hancock; a brother, Paul Sowell, a sister; Joan S. Vincent and a step-son; Roy Dorman, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Saturday, July 30, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Steve Mackey will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home, 1605 Three C’s Road, Kershaw. Memorials may be made to Thorn Hill Baptist Church, 2587 Kershaw Country Club Road, Heath Springs, S.C. 29058.
