Carlene Meeks Stokes

Funeral services for Carlene Meeks Stokes, 56, will be held at 5:00 P.M., Monday, September 14, 2009, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethune. Rev. Barbara Segars will officiate. Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA.

Mrs. Stokes died Saturday evening, September 12, at her home after a battle with cancer. Born in Savannah, GA., she was the daughter of Virginia Boatright Meeks Ernest and the late Carl Stewart Meeks. She was a former accountant for Holton Farms, Inc. in Bethune. Mrs. Stokes was a kind, loving person. She loved children even though she had none of her own and was a devoted wife.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Bethune, are her husband; G. Marshall Stokes of the home, a special sister; Pam Meeks of Pawleys Island, and her daughter, Tonya Reese of San Antonio, TX. She was predeceased in death by a brother, Donald Stewart Meeks.

The family will receive friends following the service, Monday evening in the church Fellowship Hall until 8:00 P.M. and other times at the home, 817 S. Main Street, Bethune.
