Carl James Bowers

A graveside service for Carl James Bowers, 96, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 19, 2009, in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ed Stokes will officiate.

Mr. Bowers died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Lemuel Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Horton Bowers. He was retired from Springs Industries and a farmer. Mr. Bowers was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are his wife; Iva Mae Ellis Bowers of the home, five children; Carolyn Dease (William), Glen Bowers (Linda), Ronnie Bowers (Effie) Sandy Blackmon (Charles) all of Kershaw and Wanda Truesdale of Shalotte, N.C., seventeen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son; Billy Joe Bowers and a great- great grandchild.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Baker Funeral Home.
