Buford Ardell Young, Jr.

Buford Ardell Young, Jr., age 73 of Rembert, S.C., passed away, Sunday afternoon, October 29, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Buford Ardell Young, Sr., and Margaret Pearce Young. He held a master’s degree from Georgian Southern University and was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Camden, S.C. Mr. Young retired from teaching from Camden Public Schools and Camden Military Academy. He was an avid reader, history buff, sports fan, and animal lover. He also enjoyed genealogy research.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Hunter Young of the home; 4 children, Wendy Young Overstreet and her husband, Eric of Aiken, S.C., Bryan Young and his wife, Torie of Houston, Texas, Michael Conley and his wife, Eva of Lugoff, S.C. and Cindy Evans and her husband, Jeremy of Lexington, S.C.; 8 grandchildren, Taylor, Cailyn, Brynn, Macy, Julia, Quinn, Morgan and Raven; his sister, Margaret Anne Cox of Camden, S.C. and 2 brothers, Edward Young of Camden, S.C. and Benton Young and his wife, Lynn of Sumter, S.C.

The family will receive friends, Friday morning, November 3, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m at Baker Conference Center, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C.

Funeral services for Mr. Young will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, November 3, 2023, at Baker Conference Center, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. William Smith will officiate. The burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery.
