Brenda Couch Hilliard, 79, of Heath Springs, S.C., entered eternal rest on April 4, 2022, at MUSC-Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Floyd A. Couch and Grace Neal Couch. She was a graduate of Heath Springs High School, Class of 1960. Brenda was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church where she was active on many committees, including Homecoming, Bereavement, and Vacation Bible School.
A pioneer in her day, Brenda rose through the ranks to become the Senior Vice President of Policy Management for Kanawha Insurance Company.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bobby Joe Hilliard; 2 sons, Joey and Jeff and his wife, Sandy; 4 grandchildren, Hunter, Tucker, Abe and Brenna; her sister, Annette Pickett of Maryville, TN; and special best friend, Linda Cauthen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older sister, Sylvia Gray.
Brenda loved to entertain with her good home cooking for friends and family at her home in Stoneboro and on Lake Wateree where both yards were surrounded with her beautiful flowers. There were always pontoon rides, jet ski rides and golf cart rides. Her favorite things were antiquing, junking, going to the beach and mountains and playing with her grandkids. Brenda and Annette could find every Burke’s in every state they were in.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, April 9, 2022, in Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 4670 Stoneboro Road, Heath Springs, S.C. The Reverends Mike Hammond and Mac Thompson will officiate. A visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
