Brenda Bowers Ray

Funeral service for Brenda Bowers Ray, 61, of Bethune, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 20, in Pineview Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery, Cassatt. Rev. Charlie Simmons will officiate.

Mrs. Ray died Sunday, May 17, in Kershaw County Medical Center, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Jeffcoat and Marie Hinson Bowers. She was retired from Dupont Co. and was of Baptist faith. She enjoyed bird watching and gardening.

Surviving are her husband of the home; Charles Ray, two daughters; Susan Coates and her husband Shean of Kershaw, Cynthia Busbee and her husband Sean of Columbia, a step-son; Brandon Ray and his wife Robin of Cassatt, four grandchildren; Garrett Coates and Katie Coates of Kershaw, Reed Walker of Bethune, Lindsey Walker of Columbia, a step-granddaughter; Keelie Ray of Cassatt, a sister; Mrs. Gary (Ann) Bowers, four brothers; Woodrow Bowers, David Bowers, William Bowers all of Kershaw and Randolph Bowers of Heath Springs and two special friends; Beverly Ballenger and Karen Jones. She was preceded in death by four brothers; James E., Ferris, Raymond and Leroy Bowers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 19, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the home of her daughter; 2886 Coates Court, Kershaw.
