Bobby Sims

Funeral Services for Bobby Sims, 68, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2008, in First Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.

Mr. Sims died Friday, October 24, 2008 in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. Born in Kershaw,he was the son of the late Hunter and Bessie Hilton Sims. He retired from Bowater, Inc. after 39 years of service. Mr. Sims was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Assistant Sunday School Director, Usher, R. A. Leader, and served on the pastor search committee and centennial committee.

Surviving are his wife; Brenda Gay Sims of the home, a daughter; Tammy S. Hinson and her husband Shane of Kershaw, mother-in-law; Grace H. Gay of the home, three brothers; Bill Sims of Kershaw, Jasper Sims and his wife Christine of Goose Creek, Charles E. Sims and his wife Lila of Rock Hill and his special dog; Ginger. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Lucille S.Catoe, Christine S. Catoe , two brothers; John Sims and Murriel Sims and his father in law; Curtis C. Gay.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 5 to 7 P.M at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 301 West Street.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 67, Kershaw, S.C. 29067
