Funeral services with Military Honors for Bobby Richard Phillips will be held Saturday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Baker Conference Center with burial to follow in Kershaw City Cemetery. Revs. Keith Coates and Brantley Freeman will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kershaw Fire Department, P.O. Box 145, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Mr. Phillips died Thursday, June 14. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Julius R. and Mae Snipes Phillips. Mr. Phillips had retired from the Lancaster County Natural Gas Authority and was a member of DeKalb Baptist Church. He was a former volunteer with the Kershaw Fire Department and KARE. He was also a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Hinson Phillips; daughter, Mandy Phillips Freeman (Brantley) of Lugoff; granddaughter, Hannah Leigh Freeman of Lugoff; brothers, Wayne Phillips (Judy), and Jimmy Phillips (Ann); sisters, Peggy Catoe (Earl), Clara Sowell, and Patricia Schakett (Doug); a number of nieces and nephews.
