Bobby Keith Cook, Jr., age 76, of Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away Thursday May 11, 2023. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Bobby Keith Cook, Sr. and Jean Mobley Cook. Keith was a 1965 graduate of Kershaw High School, where he was a proud member of the 1964 Class B State Championship football team and an All-State running back. Upon graduating high school, Keith attended The Citadel Military College and Lake City Junior College in Lake City, Florida, where he graduated with a degree in Forestry.
After graduation from forestry school, Keith lived and worked in Adel, Georgia for several years before returning home to his beloved friends and family in Kershaw. A lifelong forester and timber buyer, Keith retired from Beal Lumber Company and enjoyed spending his retirement learning the art of fine woodworking and in his garden at home. He was a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211 in Kershaw and was an avid outdoorsman and storyteller who was always guaranteed to bring about a good laugh to everyone he knew.
Keith is survived by his brother, Darryl Mobley Cook and his wife, Clara Alice Sanderson Cook, of Kershaw; two nephews, Robert Benjamin Cook and his wife, Amy, of Mt. Pleasant, and Bob Mobley Cook and his wife, Madison, of Fort Mill; his stepmother, Irene E. Cook of Rock Hill; a great-nephew, Conor Benjamin Cook; and a great-niece, Gregory Louise Cook. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Gregory Alan Cook.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday May 15, 2023, in the chapel of the Baker Conference Center, 105 North Minor Street, Kershaw. A burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery. Reverend Robin Hewitt and Reverend Ronnie Hinson will officiate. The family will greet friends following the committal at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor St., Kershaw.
