Graveside services for Bobbie Gale Martin, 63, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 6, 2010, in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate.

Born in Houston, TX.,he was the son of the late Robert Dale Morton and Jeanette Smith King. Mr. Martin died Saturday morning, September 4, at his home. Mr. Martin served our country honorably in the US Army for 12 years. During those 12 years included 3 tours of duty in Vietnam where he received 8 purple hearts and numerous metals and ribbons. He later was employed as the National Service Manager for Remco in Houston, Texas. Mr. Martin remained active, by working for Piedmont Mining Co., South Carolina Department of Transportation and a bus driver for the Lancaster County School District. He also had served as custodian for Kershaw Elementary School and Andrew Jackson High School. Mr. Martin was a member of all military organizations, the Trench Rats and also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are his wife; Michelle Stroud Martin of the home, 2 sons; Larry and James Martin of the home, a sister; Elizabeth Anne Grimm of Houston, TX., 2 brothers; James David Smith and Billie Earl Overman both of TX., his mother-in-law and father-in-law; Ernest and Monica Stroud of Kershaw, a brother- in-law ; Dale Stroud and his family of Enterprise , AL. and numerous other relatives. Also surviving are special friends; Marlene and Douglas Catoe of Kershaw and his dog Pug.

The family will speak to friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
