Billy Byrd

Funeral services for Billy Byrd, 79, of Camden and formerly of Lancaster will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, September 12, 2011, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster. The Revs. Bobby James and Donald Tillman will officiate. Mr. Byrd died Friday, September 9, in Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late James Lee and Sally Louise Gardner Byrd . Mr. Byrd was a former co-owner of City Body Shop, Lancaster and a Mason. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Lancaster and attended Wateree Baptist Church, Camden. He also was a U.S. Army Veteran. Surviving are his wife; Katherine H. Hudson Byrd of the home, 6 daughters; Billie Reynolds (Danny) , Freda Usher (Randy), Janice Sistare (Dickson), Lisa Carter (Bobby), Marie Hilton and Amy Adams (Greg) all of Lancaster, step-son; Phil Hudson, Camden, a step-daughter; Kathy Lynch, Lugoff, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 5 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, 3 sisters; Bernice Craig, Lancaster, Sarah Catoe, Kershaw, and Janette Nilson of Monroe, GA. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Joel Hilton, step-son; Dale Hudson, a great grandson, 2 sisters; Olivia Roach, Betty Sherrill Reeves and a brother; Jack Byrd. The family will receive friends, Monday, September 12, prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
