Betty Miller Martin

A funeral service for Betty Miller Martin, 82, of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15, in First Baptist Church. The Revs. Bryant D. Fersner, Hugh McKinney and Jackie Knight will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m, Thursday, March 15, in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson, S.C. Mrs. Martin, widow of Rev. Charles Luther Martin died Tuesday, March 13, at her home. Born in Pelzer, S.C., she was the daughter the late Edward and Lola McWhorter Miller. She retired from Lancaster County School District having taught on the high school and elementary level. She also served as the organist for First Baptist Church and Cauthen Funeral Home for many years. Mrs. Martin was a member of First Baptist Church and a honor graduate of Erskine College. Surviving are 3 daughters, Louise Kaiser of Anderson, Anne Horton (David), Lola Cox (Richard), both of Kershaw and a son, Charles L. “Charlie” Martin, III (Melissa) of Florence; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Miller and a son-in-law, Paul Kaiser. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, 108 N. Minor Street, Kershaw.
