Funeral service for Betty Faulkenberry Sowell, 82, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Thurman Johnson will officiate.
Mrs. Sowell died Tuesday, March 22, at her home. Born in the Flat Creek Township of Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Hartford and Gladys Connell Faulkenberry. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. Mrs. Sowell enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, painting and crafts.
Surviving are her husband; Clifford Sowell of the home, 2 daughters; Deborah Sowell Christmas (Ronald) of Georgetown, Kathy Sowell Catoe (Rex) of Kershaw and a son; Danny Sowell (Celia) of Heath Springs, 12 grandchildren; Britton Christmas, Devin McManus, Brad Christmas, Ron Christmas, Jr., Kendra Hahn, Gary Christmas, Kristie Mosier, Nicole Steele, Shannon Horton, Daniel Sowell, Luke Sowell and Sarah Sowell, 18 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Pauline Blackmon and Margie Wilson both of Kershaw. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter; Creigan Steele and 2 sisters; Louise Hinson, Annette Dabney and a brother; Bruce Faulkenberry.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 5695 Longville Post Road, Heath Springs, S.C.
