Bertha Roach Griffin

Bertha Roach Griffin, 86, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at her home. Services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. in Center Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Steve Miller and Bobby Wallace will officiate.

Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Charlie L. and Sarah Robinson Roach. She was married to the late William Nay Griffin. Mrs. Griffin was retired from Springs Industries. She was a dedicated member of Center Grove Baptist Church where she kept the Nursery for over 40 years, a member of the Clara Williams Prayer Group, W.M.U., the T.E. L. Sunday School Class, served and chaired the Bereavement committee for a number of years. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed knitting scarves, knitting over 200 for the residents of Heath Springs Residential Care and the ladies in her church.

Surviving are 5 loving daughters; Nadine Hinson (Ronny), Betty Payne (Jimmy), Patsy Kivett, Pansy Seegars (Dennis) and Jan Robinson all of Kershaw, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 4 step great-great grandchildren and a sister; Mae Nell Collins of Bethune. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Carene R. Newman, Inez Roach, Lyvenia Roach, Ethel Mae Robertson Small, 7 brothers; Willie Roach, Daster Roach, Hayward Roach, Oscar L. Roach, Luther (Luke) Roach, Otis Roach and Coley L.Roach.
