Barry Lynn Coates

Funeral services for Barry Lynn Coates, 46 of McBee, S.C., will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Wednesday, January27th, 2016, in the sanctuary of Timrod Baptist Church, Bethune, S.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jeremy Ussery and Keith Coates will officiate.

Mr. Coates died Saturday, January 23rd, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of Hillard Barry Coates and the late Nancy Diane Plyler Coates. He was a graduate of North Central High School, a truck driver and a member of Timrod Baptist Church. Mr. Coates served his country during Desert Storm in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, repairing jewelry and watching John Wayne movies.

Surviving in addition to his father is his wife, Donna Catoe Coates of the home; 5 children, Scotty Coates of Lancaster, S.C., Breanna Windham and her husband David of McBee, S.C., Shane Coates and his wife Taelor of Rock Hill, S.C., Troy Windham and his wife Amber of McBee, S.C. and Tyler Coates of Lancaster, S.C.; 5 grandchildren, Baelen Coates, Kadence Windham, Trenton McCaskill, Karlie Windham and Karoline Windham; a brother, Randall K. Coates and his wife Dusty of Laurel, Indiana and a sister, Dawanna Coates of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kennedy Windham.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 o’clock p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C. and other times at the home.
