Barbara A. Mckay

A graveside service for Barbara Ann Whitaker McKay, 66 of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013, in Pleasant Plain Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Todd Montgomery, Thurmond Johnson and Larry Plyler will officiate. Mrs. McKay died Saturday, July 20, at White Oak Manor, Lancaster. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of Florence Payne Whitaker and the late Robert Vertis “R.V.” Whitaker. Mrs. McKay was a former employee of Flat Creek School Cafeteria and a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. She loved keeping children in her home and worked in the nursery at her church for a number of years. She also had served her church as organist. Survivors in addition to her mother of Kershaw, are her husband, Ardell McKay of the home; her son, Scott McKay and his wife Jill of Kershaw; a sister, Marcia Plyler (Larry); a brother, Mitch Whitaker all of Kershaw and a granddaughter, Madeline McKay. Also surviving are her caregiver, Joyce Reese and special friends, Todd, Sharron and Kristen Montgomery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the fellowship hall.
