Augusta 'Tillie' Gay

Graveside services for Augusta Franke Tillie Gay, 83, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2009, in Kershaw City Cemetery, Edwards Ave., Kershaw.

Mrs. Gay, wife of the late Harry Laws Gay for 49 years died Sunday, January 25, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. Born in Darlington, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Bessie Austin Drake.
Tillie graduated from Columbia College and taught school in various towns in South Carolina. She worked at the Pentagon in the early 1950's. Mrs. Gay was a lecturer with Weight Watchers from 1982 to 1992.

Surviving are three daughters; twins; Cyndy Harris and Lynn Coffman, and Harriet Detar and sons-in-law, Scott Harris, Clyde Coffman and Dan Detar; three grandchildren; Jacob Harris, Bess and Drake Detar, a sister and brother in law; Alice and Bob Burnett of Greer, S.C. a niece; Allison Burnett and nephew Drake Burnett and their children and a fourth daughter; Janice Chance and her husband Mike.

The family will speak to friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
