A funeral service for Annie Theo Faulkenberry Young, 85 of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May7, 2016, in the sanctuary of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church. The Revs. Ken Land and Bart Sistare will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Young, widow of Edgar Wellington “E.W.” Young, Jr., died Wednesday, May 4, at KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late David Finn and Alice Catoe Faulkenberry. Mrs. Young served as county administrator for the ASCS office in Kershaw County for 30 years and also was a sales associate at Belk in Camden for more than 20 years. She was a faithful member of Hanging Rock United Church where she had served as the choir director for a number of years and served the church in many other various capacities. Mrs. Young was a graduate of Baron DeKalb High School where she was valedictorian of her graduating class.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Y. Heins and her husband Wayne of Lugoff and a son, Bryan Young and his wife Angie of Elgin; four grandchildren, Marisa Sligh and her husband Justin, Hal Young, Garrett Heins and Cameron Young; two great-grandchildren, Annie Mae Sligh and Milo Sligh; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Faulkenberry and Margaret Holley and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Faulkenbery and David Faulkenberry and a sister, Barbara Truesdell.
The family will receive friends, Friday, May 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 1389 Briar Croft Lane, Lugoff.
