Anne Mclane Hough

A funeral service for Anne McLane Hough, 89 will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Friday, September 11, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Tweed will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hough, widow of William R. “Bill” Hough died Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Born in Goodwater, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Mary Louise Conaway McLane and John Broadstreet McLane.

Mrs. Hough graduated from Columbia College in 1946 with a BA in English and French. She taught English at Kershaw High School and later Andrew Jackson High School until her retirement in 1984. In recognition of her contributions, she was inducted into the Lancaster County Education Hall of Fame in 2013. She was a active member of the Kershaw United Methodist Church throughout her years in Kershaw; in her later years, she enjoyed the fellowship of the New Testament Christian Church in Lancaster. Mrs. Hough also found great satisfaction in volunteer work at KARE for many years in her retirement. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting as well as regular card games with her sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Anne Hough of Dorchester, SC, and Linda Hough Perangelo and her husband Henry of Durham, NC; a son, William R. “Pete” Hough, Jr. and his wife Karen of Lancaster; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Louise McLane Gregory of Kershaw.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Broadstreet McLane, Jr. and Conway Lee McLane; and two sisters, Elizabeth McLane Blaich and Lessie Jean McLane Mobley.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
