Alex Mitchell Sims

Alex Mitchell “Mitch” Sims, age 68 of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday, May 3, 2024, at Continuecare Hospital at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late William G. Sims and Ruth Coates Sims. Mitch was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and the University of South Carolina at Lancaster. He played basketball in high school and was a Carolina Gamecock fan. He was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church, and he loved his family.

Mitch is survived by his grandson, Jayden Sims; his sister, Pat Sims Hinson and nieces and nephews; Kim Kemmner and her husband, Barry, Kelly Phillips and her husband, Scotty, Joey Hinson and his wife, Shea, Alan Sims and his wife, Christina and Hayley Payne and her husband, Jason. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Diane Sims and his brother, Randy Sims.
