Susie Lucas

Susie Lucas, age 82, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Sunday morning, July 9, 2023, at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Jack Lucas, Sr., and Mary Jeanette Lowery Lucas. Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. She loved to fish and spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 sons, James Dean Blackmon and Jimmy Lee Odom and his wife, Miranda; 7 grandchildren, Kayla Hinson, Jamey Lee Odom, Eric Glen Odom, Buffie Plyler, Jodie Self and her husband, Steven, Hannah McElveen and Mark Plyler and 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sarah McManus and Jo Ann Henson, and her brother, John David Lucas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Odom; her daughter, Tammy Blackmon; her grandson, Kevin Hinson and her brother, Jack “Monk” Lucas, Jr. and her sister, Frances Robinson.

The family will greet friends, Friday, July 14, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:15 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. Preacher Cotton Pate will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
