<description><![CDATA[Funeral services for Paula A. Whitaker, 50, of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.  The Revs. Bryant D. Fersner and Todd Montgomery will officiate.

Mrs. Whitaker died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital.  Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Paul Thomas Roberts and the late Patricia Faile Williams. She was a former claims manager for a insurance company. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her father are her husband; Richard “Rick” Whitaker, a son; Chris Whitaker and his wife Jill Harkins Whitaker, a daughter; Courtney Whitaker, a sister; Becky Faulkenberry and her husband Kenny , all of Kershaw , 4 grandchildren; Gavin Harkins, Camden Harkins, Brianna Faile and Shelby Whitaker and a brother Jeff Roberts of North Carolina.

The family will receive friends, 1 hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.

Phillips" />Funeral services for Rebecca Casey “Becky” Phillips, 70, of Kershaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday May 13, 2013, at Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.  The Rev. Don Knight and Mr. Dean Casey will officiate.

Mrs. Phillips died Friday, May 10, at her home.  Born in Laurens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Marion Lee and Opal Burke Casey. She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, jewerly making and word puzzles.  Mrs. Phillips was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years; William L. Phillips, a daughter; Janet (Danny) Bowers, a son; Cliff (Tonya) Phillips, grandson; Brandon Lee Payne, granddaughter; Savannah Brooke Phillips all of Kershaw, great grandson; Jousha Lee Payne of Elgin, SC, 2 step-grandchildren; Travis and Amanda Lewis, 2 step-great grandchildren; Aubree and Addison and 2 brothers; Ronnie and Buddy Lee Casey of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends, Monday, May 13, prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home, 882 Baxley Pond Road, Kershaw.

Phillips" />Funeral services for Benjamin Norwood Campbell, 87, of Heath Springs will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.  Rev. Buddy Thomas will officiate.

Mr. Campbell died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his home.  Born in Angelus, SC, he was the son of the late Sidney Alexander and Bessie Huntley Campbell. Mr. Campbell retired as sewing supertindent at Alisa, Inc. He had served as past master of Barron Masonic Lodge and was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans-Witherspoon-Barnes Camp and a Charter member of Chesterfield Genealogical Society . He also was a U. S. Merchant Marine serving during World War 11. Mr. Campbell graduated from Macedonia-Angelus High School and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  He served his church as a deacon,  Sunday School Teacher , Church Training Director and RA Leader in his earlier years. He also served on the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Committee and was co-chair of the Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens Group.
  
Surviving are 5 children; Jim (Kim) Campbell of Jefferson, SC, Celia (Robert) Roberts of Kershaw, SC, Donna (Donnie) Estes of Fort Mill, SC, Paul (Christy) Campbell of Heath Springs, SC, Karen (Calvin) Williams of Appling, GA, 10 grandchildren; Amy Graves, Patrick Campbell, Shane Estes, Reggie Campbell, Ashley Merritt, Michelle Cunningham, Joshua Campbell, Alex Campbell, Amanda Evans, Jerry Campbell,  a brother; Aaron Huntley of Charlotte, NC , 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceaded in death by his loving wife of 67 years; Lucille Dease Campbell, 4 brothers; Archie, Frank, Robert and William Campbell and 2 sisters; Golda C. Robinson and Evelyn Campbell.

The family will receive friends, Satuday, May 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home, 415 Boyd Faile Road, Heath Springs.

Mr. Schakett died Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Sanford and Vivian Barnes Schakett.  He was a member of DeKalb Baptist Church and a avid Nascar fan.  Doug retired as a electrician.

Surviving are his wife; Patricia Phillips Schakett of the home, 2 sisters; Sandra Newsser and her husband Larry of Lancaster, Ohio, Pam Wallace of Lancaster, a brother; Sanford Schakett, Jr. of Gahanna, Ohio and nieces and nephews.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://bakerfunerals.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/57_142637.jpg" alt="Douglas Edward Schakett" />A funeral service to celebrate the life of William Bryant “Will” Fersner, 31, of Marion SC and formerly of Kershaw, SC will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson, St., Kershaw.  Rev. Bert Fersner and Chaplain Steve Shugart will officiate.  Entombment  will follow with military honors in the Kershaw City Cemetery.  A celebration of Will’s life will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 3:00 pm in Mullins Presbyterian Church, 809 Sandy Bluff Road, Mullins, SC.

Mr. Fersner passed away at his home Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Bryant Doyle (Roseanne) Fersner. “ Will” as he was known, was a paramedic with the South Carolina  National Guard. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and attended USC. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 74 and received his Eagle Scout Award. “Will” gave unselfishly and served in the United States Army serving during the Iraq Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw and a volunteer  fireman with the Marion Fire Department.

Surviving in addition to his parents of Kershaw are his daughter; Miss Rebekah Elizabeth Fersner of Rock Hill, a sister; Mrs. Bryan (Elizabeth Anne “Beth”) Robinson of West Columbia, maternal grandmother; Zell Rodgers Gaskin of Lake City, fiancé; Amanda Burroughs of Mullins, special friend; Cliff Wilbanks of Marion and many special uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; M. Ray Gaskin of Lake City, paternal grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Doyle “Jackie” Fersner of Orangeburg and cousin; Joshua Gaskin of Pamplico.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, April 25, 2013, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Mr. Cauthen, widower of Loriner Bradley Cauthen died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Lancaster Convalscent Center, Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Robert Edgar and Ethel Williams Cauthen. He retired from Springs Industries . Mr. Cauthen  was a lifetime member of Flat Rock Masonic  Lodge # 178 and a United States Navy Veteran.  He enjoyed gardening and cutting grass.

Surviving are 3 daughters; Delores Catoe and her husband Mark of Kershaw, Cynthia Sanders and her husband Steve of Stanfield, NC, Kathy Gardner and her husband Mike of Kershaw, 3 sons; Kenneth Cauthen and his wife Janice, Wayne Cauthen and his wife Terry, Gerald Cauthen and his wife Missy all of Kershaw, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Earlene Phillips and her husband Joe of Kershaw and Irma Huckabee and her husband Julius of Westville.

Mrs. Coker, loving wife of Danny Coker died Sunday, April 21, 2013.  Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Ethel Phillips Lucas. She loved to shop and travel. She was especially fond of her late son’s dog Lee-Loo and was a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her husband of Schererville, IN are a step-daughter; Trudy Goodsen (Hal) and a step-son; Spence Coker, 2 grandchilden; Hayes and Cole Goodsen all of Darlington, SC, 2 sisters; Marcine Knight of Kershaw,  Mary Craig (Arthur) of Lancaster, sister-in-law; Ellen McNelly (Bruce) of Richmond VA, 3 nieces; Vicky Bonnoitt (Jimmy) of Darlington, Debbie Austin (Glenn) of Kershaw, Tammie Boone (Mitch) of Kershaw, 2 nephews; Art Craig (Tammy) of Monks Corner,  Phillip Craig (Vickie) of Lancaster and a number of great nieces and nephews. She had retired as a retail clerk with Springs Industries and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years.

Surviving are her brothers-in-law; Walter H. Baker (Maxine) of Kershaw; Perry Baker (Dorothy) and Jasper Baker, nieces, Rev. April Baker, Amy Sullivan, Jeanette Pittman, Sherie Russell, Penny West, Robin Catoe, Wanda Sowell, Deborah Spillman, nephews; Brad Faulkenberry and Dale Faulkenberry.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her brother-in-law, 185 Kamala Rd., Kershaw.

Mrs. Thompson, widow of Wallace Brown Thompson died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home.  Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Luther Davis and Mamie Thorne Vincent. She was a homemaker and a member of the Busy Bee Circle at the church where she was a member.  She also enjoyed ministering to others and being a hairdresser.

Surviving are 2 sons; Gary (Peggy) Thompson, Roger (Karen) Thompson, 3 grandchildren; Angela (Ray) Hayhurst, Melissa (Todd) Gandy and Dale Thompson, 5 great grandchildren; nieces; Faye Bowers and Sue Bowers.  She was preceded in death by a son; William Thompson, a sister; Floride Phillips and a special friend; Annabell Williams.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall and other times at  the home of her son; 2641 Kershaw Counrty Club Rd., Heath Springs.

Mrs. Mungo, widow of Bruce Gay Mungo died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home.  Born in the Charlesboro Community of Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late William Leroy and Annie Viola Mungo Taylor. She was a retired business owner for many years operating a turkey farm.  She was very active in her church serving as church treasurer for 25 years,  Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Mungo attended Business School in Atlanta, GA.

Surviving are 3 daughters; Shirley Mungo Brown (Gene) of Avera, GA., Deborah Mungo Huddleston (Paul) of Charlesboro, Lisa Mungo Munn (Mike)of Raeford, NC, 8 grandchildren; Mary Angela Walden (Andy), Alan Caskey (Amy), Michael Mungo, Aaron Mungo, Zachary Mungo, Braxton Cobb Munn, Justin Munn, Kyle Munn, 8 great grandchildren; Adam Andrew Walden, Evan Paul Walden, Amber Caskey, Gauge Caskey, Hannah Helms, Zoe Helms,Ian Grant,Bryson Blackmon and special caregiver; Sandy Hunter.  She was preceded in death by her son; Bruce Gay “Bo Bo” Mungo, Jr., her sister; Eunice Newman and 5 brothers; Hazel Taylor, Perry Taylor, Furman “Bunt” Taylor, W.L. “Cobb” Taylor and James Ray “Jib” Taylor.
